Rules of Madd (Elongation)

This course, taught by Sheikh Ahmed Alhomsi, focuses on the rules of madd (elongation) as explained in the classical work Illustrated Tajweed (التجويد المصوَّر). The study of madd is one of the most fundamental aspects of Tajweed, as it determines how long specific vowels and sounds should be extended while reciting the Qur’an.

Through this program, students will learn the different types of madd (natural, obligatory, permissible, and others), their causes, lengths, and practical application in recitation. Special emphasis will be placed on distinguishing between similar rules and ensuring accuracy in reciting verses where madd is required.

The course will balance theory with applied recitation practice, ensuring that participants not only understand the definitions but also gain the ability to recite fluently and correctly. It is designed to build confidence in Qur’an recitation and help students avoid common mistakes.
