Explanation of Bina’ al-Af‘al (Morphology Text)

December 23, 2021 @ 8:00 am - January 20, 2022 @ 9:00 am

This course, taught by Sheikh Ali bin Yaseen al-Muhammad, focuses on the classical Arabic morphology primer Bina’ al-Af‘al. The text serves as an essential introduction to sarf (Arabic word-forms and verb conjugation), providing students with a foundational understanding of how verbs are constructed and used across different contexts.

Participants will study the structure of the three-letter root system, derived forms, and the ways verbs are modified to express tense, voice, and other grammatical functions. The sessions will balance theory with practice, ensuring that learners can confidently apply the rules when reading, analyzing, and understanding Qur’anic Arabic and classical texts.

By mastering this text, students will strengthen their foundation in Arabic grammar and morphology, enabling smoother progression into more advanced works of nahw (syntax) and balaghah (rhetoric). This makes the course particularly valuable for students of Islamic sciences and Arabic linguistics.
